Embroidery Tip – Removing Hoop Marks

Hoop marks on fabric can be removed by simply spraying on water with a plastic mist bottle. However, there will always be that certain fabric that retains the hoop marks. A workaround is to use a product called “Magic Sizing” and brush or iron out the marks, depending on the fabric type.

Magic Sizing can be found with the spray starches at fabric stores or grocery stores, but seems to be available only in the U.S. It is a domestic silicon-based fabric conditioner used to make ironing easier but outside the USA similar products can be found among the spray starches under the name “fabric conditioner”.

When removing hoop marks, use fabric conditioner not spray-on starch which may leave white marks on dark garments.
