Embird Tip – Searching for Designs
There are all sorts of hidden “goodies” within Embird that are not well known. One is the search function. At the top right panel in the Manager screen, there is a magnifying glass with the letter “F” in the centre. This is your search icon and is helpful to find files where you know the folder, name and extension of the file. If you use the wild card *.* and a generic or partial name, that will expand your search.
After entering your search term, you also have the ability to use several parameters for designs you have either purchased, downloaded or digitized, including title, subject, author category and keywords. If that wasn’t enough, you can also search by stitch count, size, colour count or thread changes count.
If you digitize your own designs, to aid you with the search function, add file summary information to the design. This can be found in Studio under design or in Editor under file. Adding the file summary information will enable you to search much more efficiently.
One caveat to remember, however, is that file summary information will only stay with a file on a computer or disk that has NTFS formatting. It will not be added to a file that is saved to a computer or disk that has FAT formatting.
If you have a drive that does not have NTFS formatting ,it can be formatted to a NTFS drive, but be aware that formatting a drive will delete any information currently on the drive if you wish to store file summary information on an external drive.
