Computer Tip – Reading PDF Files with Adobe Reader and Foxit Reader
If you work with a lot of PDF files, such as e-books or other lengthy documents, you probably find it either frustrating or annoying that the documents always open at page one rather than the last page you were viewing. However, with Adobe Reader 8 there is a way to have the program remember the last page you viewed as well as selected zoom and pan settings.
- Within Adobe Reader click Edit, Preferences.
- Choose Documents.
- Check the box marked “Restore last view settings when reopening documents.”
There is an alternative to Adobe Reader that is worth taking a look at: Foxit Reader. According to their web site, “Foxit Reader is a free PDF document viewer, with incredible small size, breezing-fast launch speed and rich feature set. Foxit Reader supports Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista” The most important feature is the size and speed of this utility, making it well worth taking a look at.
When reading documents with the Foxit Reader, there is a similar setting to remember your page: Click Edit, Preferences, General, and then enable “Restore last view settings when reopening.”
