Kathy Jones – Flying Needle Machine Embroidery

Kathy Jones Flying Needle Machine Embroidery I have been involved with sewing and embroidery from a young age. After teaching various sewing, quilting and craft classes over a number of years, I became interested in working with machine embroidery in 1995. The journey began with the Brother P.E. Design 100 embroidery machine. At that time there were no computerized embroidery software programs for the home embroidery field, so I began digitizing with the P.E. Design scan software, which was soon (thank goodness), superceded by P.E. Design version 1.

In 1996, I started teaching digitizing and writing tutorials on digitizing with P.E. Design with version 1 of P.E. Design, updating the tutorials through to version 6 of the program.

I began working with Embird in 1997, teaching myself how to edit, split and combine designs. With each new version of Embird, the capabilities of the program continue to climb to wonderful new heights, allowing us the luxury of editing designs easily and efficiently.

With the advent of the digitizing program in Editor I began teaching how to digitize designs with Studio (part of the Embird Digitizing Tools suite). Digitizing designs continues to be something that I am passionate about, and am now teaching solely on how to digitize with Embird Studio (Digitizing Tools).

I am delighted to share my lessons on working with Embird with you, as digitizing, splitting, editing, combining and creating new designs has always been a passion for me. The results of my efforts so far are available as lessons on digitizing through monthly digitizing lessons.

There is so much more to learn about machine embroidery, and it is a constant learning process, so be sure to join me either on my Yahoo list or with my tutorials as we learn more and more about machine embroidery and digitizing.

I am the mother of two wonderful daughters and grandmother of two even more wonderful grandchildren. My husband and I live on Vancouver Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. We travel as much as we can, both internationally and nationally either by air or in our 5th wheel.

We all have more than one interest or passion and I seem to have more than I can handle at times. Gardening is a passion for me, and I have a very large garden, including over 100 different species of rhododendron plants. I also paint, quilt, work extensively with our local family history society in researching family history not only for myself but also help others, as well as many other interests. Life is never dull in our household!
